Clinical Experience

Gertrude has worked for over 15 years in private practice, residential treatment clinical settings and in day care settings which specialised in Addiction, Suicide and Trauma. She facilitated one to one therapy and group therapy. As a case manager she has worked with individuals, family groups and work conferences.

Clinical Approach

In her clinical and coaching practice and workshops, she uses a holistic and integrative approach which includes the Transpersonal, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural and Solution focused models. She works with Transpersonal Issues (e.g. mid-life/existential crisis),

  • Self Esteem
  • Addiction
  • Depression
  • Stress Management
  • Anxiety
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Childhood Trauma
  • Self-Harm
  • Suicide
  • Life Transitions

Here, the Person coming for therapy is welcomed from the perspective of health and well-being, rather than illness and pathology which needs to be helped, “fixed” or corrected. Her particular area of interest has been how we negotiate periods of transition and learning to relate to and include anxiety, as both a challenging part of the process and integral to a creative and dynamic life journey.

The focus is on the human ‘impulse towards wholeness’ with its longing and striving for a more authentic experience of self. Her research has shown that as this conscious connection to the authentic self becomes more integrated, the person experiences a call that extends beyond the personal to include a sense of co-creative connection to the wellbeing of the ‘greater whole’ – the local community, the ecological footprint and the interconnectedness of all life.
